Saturday evening saw Brent Singers once again perform to a full house at St Petroc's Church in South Brent, with Stille Nacht: A German Christmas. The audience was treated to festive German pieces including Haydn's Missa Sancti Nicolai, with Glühwein and stollen on offer as an appropriate interval treat! Musical Director Matthew Searles, Organist David Davies, and soloists drawn from the choir all added to an excellent concert, which was warmly received by those who came along. We were also delighted to welcome Hannah Walker from Buckfast Abbey's choristers to sing Maria Wiegenlied.
The concert was dedicated to Hélène Fitch, who with her guide dog Biscuit was a member of Brent Singers for many years and who sadly passed away during the summer. She is dearly missed. A proportion of the retiring collection will be donated to Cancer Research UK in her memory. We were pleased to welcome Biscuit to the concert with Hélène's daughter, Debbie.
